What Triggers You?

Thinking before reacting is one of those easier said than done tasks. And we can ask ourselves... Why did I say that? What just happened to me? Why did I overreact? Is it possible that I misread what happened and what was said? We can learn tools to manage these emotions and reactions in our favor.

LWBJ: Curiosity Is a Great Asset

Being curious is not always viewed as a positive trait.  Many of us were raised to be discreet and careful to ask questions. We were taught to avoid being inquisitive and ultimately rude.

However, curiosity is really the desire to acquire knowledge.  It can enable us to tap into information, opportunities and experiences that can be extremely fulfilling and valuable.

I find that individuals that stay curious as adults, tend to be very successful regardless of their field of expertise.  They go beyond the obvious, beyond the information presented to them, and explore.  They ask questions.  They learn more, and faster.

So can we train to be more curious?   Yes…

Here are some simple ideas so we can push ourselves to keep our minds more flexible and our knowledge bank richer:

  • Read about a new subject.

  • Ask questions.  Ask lots of questions.  Instead of viewing curiosity as rude, we can perceive it as genuine interest.

  • Explore a new hobby.

  • Search and learn about a new destination/country, its culture and its people.

  • Keep an open mind.

There is no doubt that remaining curious is certainly enhanced by quieting some "voices," so I invite you to watch this week's video in my YouTube channel:  The Voices We Allow.

I will continue to send messages that will hopefully be inspirational and thought-provoking for you.  I invite you to subscribe to the channel to be notified of my weekly videos.

LWBJ: Who really is part of your Team?

If you know me well, you know I highly value working in teams.  Assembling, managing and especially inspiring them to succeed has been one of my strengths and passions.

However, here I refer to teams, as those individuals around us, that support and enhance everything we do, many times without acknowledgement or recognition.  It could be a supporting co-worker, employee, spouse, friend, neighbor and the list goes on.  What do we really do alone?   Or better yet...  Who packs your parachute?

Recognizing the work of the people that help us do what we do is key.  It can increase job and life satisfaction for all involved.  It could also create or grow the feeling of belonging to a common or greater cause.

More importantly, when we make the effort to become aware of the many “helpers” we have in life, gratitude feels our hearts and we might make changes, or adjust our business and life strategies as a result.

And yes, awareness  is a "muscle" we work, which ties to this week's video in my YouTube channelBe Aware of Your Thoughts.   So many important things happen that escape our attention and our thoughts are no different.  Thoughts ARE also part of your TEAM.

I will continue to send messages that will hopefully be inspirational and thought-provoking for you.  I invite you to subscribe to be notified of my weekly videos.

Stay healthy, joyful and connected.

Yes, it is so easy to be a YES person. Everybody likes us better. It is so simple to be agreeable and we all love to be liked. We say yes a lot. However, how is that serving us? Or our goals?
