“A star does not compete with other stars around it; it just shines.”   ― Matshona Dhliwayo

"Each one of you has something no one else has, or has ever had: your fingerprints, your brain, your heart. Be an individual. Be unique. Stand out. Make noise. Make someone notice. That's the power of individuals."  ― Jon Von Jovi

Saying No... 3 Reasons & 3 Questions

Yes, it is so easy to be a YES person. Everybody likes us better. It is so simple to be agreeable and we all love to be liked. We say yes a lot. However, how is that serving us? Or our goals?

LWBJ: Elevating Our Impact

LWBJ: Elevating Our Impact

Our impact defines our contribution to the world via our work, businesses, community involvement and our families.

We all have different ways to look at the world so it is fascinating to see the diverse ways we all impact the lives of people around us.

And for those in that second half of life, how exciting it is to know that your contribution can still be major in any area of your life. Your legacy can be more impactful than you could ever have imagined.

Additionally, we are definitely "doing business" differently. It is refreshing to see how we can be successful on a personal level and also create transformative change in the lives of others. We are navigating new waters. I firmly believe we are becoming more aware of how powerful our impact could be if we expanded our scope and reach, in terms of our own progress, career, business and life.

I would love to hear from you. Do you feel you have made or are making an impact? And how? What are you passionate about? What are your strengths? What would you like to do?

It is important that we communicate our ideas, progress, outcomes and contributions to inspire each other to step up our games. It is also important to receive feedback so we can adjust our initiatives, if needed, and prioritize accordingly.

Taking a bit of time to think of what those real priorities are for us and schedule our time accordingly, is what really would move us forward. This week, in my youtube channel. I speak about My Top 3 Tips for Time Management. I hope these simple techniques aid you to be more time efficient so you can free up time to share your gifts with the communities you impact.   I will continue to send messages that will hopefully be inspirational and thought-provoking for you. I invite you to subscribe and give me your feedback.

Thoughts: Shifting emotions in business and in life

Thoughts: Shifting emotions in business and in life

Emotions are many times defined as mental reactions that may be followed by strong feelings. These feelings may cause physical effects and cause us to overreact, shut down and may hinder our capability to make good decisions.  Many times we may witness changes in others, or feel changes in our own bodies. For example: our heart rate might increase, breathing might be shallower and facial expressions might dramatically change.  According to the cognitive appraisal theory, emotions are judgments about the extent that the current situation meets our goals. I would add that we react many times when the situation does not meet our needs or expectations.

It is important to be aware that there are emotions that shut down the brain. This fact alone hardly assists us in making important decisions in business or in life. It is also very helpful to recognize what triggers strong emotions in others, as that will also affect how they respond to you, or to any given situation.

Learning how to anticipate and shift emotions is a great skill that needs practice and a lot of awareness: self-awareness and awareness of those around us.

Here are my top recommendations:

  1. Breathe. Regardless of what happens, practice to not react immediately. Breathe deeply.

  2. Think before you speak. Language is powerful and its impact lasting.

  3. If possible, change your focus or those of others. That does not necessarily mean avoiding the situation, just simply seeing in a different light.

  4. Remember that emotions can be controlled. It is a decision and a muscle we build.

And reiterating the importance of language, check my latest video about BLISSIPLINE and subscribe to the channel if my messages are of value to you. Thank you!

Thoughts: Navigating the Psychology of a Slowing Economy

Thoughts: Navigating the Psychology of a Slowing Economy

There is no doubt that we are presently experiencing a slowing of the economy.

This fact, as we know, is negatively affecting many businesses. At the same time, it is creating an abundance in others. Abundance in a particular business, can also generate a very challenging competition field. Therefore, elevating our services, skills, and especially our impact, is key.

No two economic downturns are identical. We must watch closely how this one will affect us now and in the future.

It is also crucial to be clear of who we service so we can make effective decisions. Are they struggling? Are they fine but cautious? Are they seemingly unaffected by the present situation?

I believe that although all downturns affect us emotionally, this one has particularly taken a toll on all of us personally, and in our occupations and businesses. Therefore, taking care of the "person" is of utmost importance right now.

Working through our emotional connections, sending thoughtful messages, and being empathetic have always been great strategies for our business and personal lives, but they are now almost the only way to navigate these waters and come out better than before. Giving value has become our biggest asset.

In trying to do exactly that, I have created a youtube channel. I will be sending messages that will hopefully be inspirational and thought-provoking for the audience. I invite you to subscribe and give me your feedback. I published one short video this week and I plan to upload a new one every week.  Click here to watch and subscribe. Thank you!

Stay healthy, joyful and connected,
